The MacArthur Study Bible, which was first released in 1997, has just passed its 10-year anniversary.
In that span of time, over one million copies have been sold, according to Pulpit Magazine.
An article was written to commemorate the occasion—“A Little History on a Historic Day.”
Run as a bulletin insert this past Sunday, the article is now available online from Grace Community Church.

Visit Eucatastrophe for Dan’s interview with Sally Lloyd-Jones, the author of the Jesus Storybook Bible.
Dan was impressed with the book, and included the following as a preface to his interview with the author:
It is very well written and does a fantastic job capturing Scripture’s big picture. Sally has served Christian families very well with this book. If you are looking for another resource that will help your children better understand the significance of Jesus’ person and work, this is a book you’ll want to pick up.

Here are two articles of interest dealing with the popularity of atheist books in the last couple of years.
Joseph Bottum at First Things: “Why Atheism Is Selling . . . Books”
There’s an odd defensiveness about all these books—as though they were a sign not of victory but of desperation. Everywhere on earth except Western Europe, religion is surging. Each of the authors admits that most people, especially in America, do not agree with him. Each pictures himself as a man who spits against the wind. Each rehearses his arguments for atheism mostly, it seems, to convince himself.

Everyone is talking about J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. The seventh and final contribution to the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has already made history as the fasting selling book of all time, selling “an estimated 8.3 million in the first 24 hours.” In just a couple days it has nearly 700 customer reviews at Amazon.com and nearly 100 reviews at Amazon.co.uk. It currently sits at the number one position in Amazon’s bestseller list, followed by the audio version of the same book.
Discussions about the appropriateness of the series for Christian youth and the existence of Christian themes abound, with loud voices on both sides.

The Christian Post has an article with some interesting facts about best selling books.
What is the most printed or translated book in the English language? The Bible? Think again. It’s actually John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, which is “the title holder of both the most printed and most translated English book” and has been translated into more than 100 languages.
So what record does the Bible hold? It is “by far the best-selling and most translated book in the world,” with an estimated 6 billion plus copies.
The Purpose Driven Life holds a top record as well, being the “best selling hardback in U.S. history with more than 30 million copies sold and translated into over 50 languages.”
It’s also worth noting that “religion has been one of the fastest-growing categories in publishing in the last 15 years.”

I’m not sure how accurate it is, but you might also find this list of best-selling books interesting.
