Forthcoming Mark Driscoll Books

by Phil Gons on August 16th, 2007

driscoll-mark.jpgIn a recent blog post, Mark Driscoll (Wikipedia | Theopedia) reflects on how good God has been to him. At the end of that post, we find out that Mark has seven books in the queue for next year—all with Crossway.

Overall, the summer has been good. I also got in a ton of writing this past week and am on pace to publish seven books with Crossway in 2008. With a recent massive re-org of the church taking shape, I am truly grateful for the ability to focus on some big projects that are long overdue while getting some rest, hitting the gym, and enjoying my family. By God’s grace, it’s a happy season filled with good gifts for which I am grateful.

That’s quite a few books for one year for a pastor! That might even top John MacArthur and John Piper.

One of those books is Vintage Jesus: Timeless Answers to Timely Questions (due out on 02/11/08). I’m not sure if Driscoll’s contribution to The Supremacy of Christ in a Postmodern World is included in the seven. It’s doesn’t seem likely, since it is scheduled to be available on 11/06/07 according to Crossway.

Anyone know what the others are?

I think I’ve heard him reference a book on the atonement, although that could be simply his contribution to the Understanding the Belief of Emerging Churches book published earlier this year. If it’s not, it’s probably a published version of his Christ on the Cross series preached a few years back…. Not sure on the others, but if I had to guess I’d say most of it is probably going to be sermons organized and published in book form, that’s what both Dr. Piper and Dr. MacArthur do quite often and I can’t imagine how any pastor as busy as Driscoll would have time for seven original books. (Vintage Jesus was a sermon series preached last fall/winter)

That said, if anyone would try to crank out seven original books in one year while also pastoring a church as large as Mars Hill while also serving as President of Acts29… it’s Driscoll :).
